How to Meet Anna and Elsa | Disney Cruise Line Bucket List

In case you've been on a deserted island for the last two years,

St. Thomas and St. John
Which come to think of it, doesn't sound like such a bad plan.
Frozen is kind of a big deal.

It passed Toy Story 3 as the highest grossing animated film. It won two Oscars for best animated film and best original song for "Let It Go." The soundtrack went triple platinum and (in a totally non-scientific observation) almost every other girl dressed as Elsa for "Elsa-ween 2014" despite the movie being nearly a year old at that point.

After drawing waits upward of 300 minutes (yes, five hours, not a typo) at Walt Disney World meet and greets, it only seems natural that you should be able to see Anna and Elsa on the high seas. Last summer, the sister visited guests aboard the Disney Fantasy, the Magic and the Wonder and finally in the last month, the Dream.

So how do you get to meet the princess and the ice queen? Do you need FastPasses? Do they even do that on the ship or do the lines get super crazy?

1.) Pick up the personal navigator while you are waiting to board in the terminal.

2.) Scan the navigator for the "Character Meet & Greet Ticket Distribution", currently this is listed on the bottom right of the front of the paper navigator.

3.) On boarding go directly to pick up your tickets. Have your week's schedule in mind as they may offer more than one day of meet and greets and rescheduling is difficult after tickets are distributed.

Write the day and time of your meet and greet down in your planner or post the tickets on the inside of your stateroom door with some magnets or put the tickets away in a safe place and set an alarm on your phone as a reminder. It'd be a shame to get the tickets and then miss the meet and greet. This happens fairly often, at least once a cruise based on our Facebook groups.

5.) Arrive ten to fifteen minutes ahead of your meet and greet to join the queue, it goes pretty quickly. Bring your tickets, your autograph, books, your cameras and a little bit of patience!

Do you wanna take a selfie?
6.) Smile! Ask if Anna wants to build a snowman. Snap a selfie or two. Get an autograph. Cheese!

All in all, this was a fun, easy way to meet Princess Anna and Queen Elsa on our Disney Cruise without much fuss. The sisters were very kind and understanding with a shy boy just ahead of our group and loved talking about Arendelle with my little princess.

Have you met Elsa and Anna yet?

  1. The Character Meet & Greet Ticket Distribution process was new to me when we took our 4th cruise on the Disney Magic this past Thanksgiving. We had sailed on the Fantasy in May 2014, and tickets weren't needed for the Princess Gathering. I've made it a habit to scan the Navigator after we check in and caught the section you mentioned in your post. We got to meet Anna & Elsa and we (er, I mean the kids) were thrilled! :)

    1. I will say it is a big improvement on the previous lines for the Princess Meet & Greet. It was a *very* smart move to institute this before they introduced the Frozen royalty to the ships.

    2. I'm sure the Frozen Frenzy on DCL is only going to get bigger. The Disney Parks Blog posted some new information today about Anna, Elsa and Olaf joining all 4 ships this summer. I always felt that a 'live' Olaf was the only element missing from the whole experience. *Warm hugs*

    3. I'm so glad they're bringing Olaf! I'm more excited to meet him than Anna and Elsa even!
I've updated the post with the new Disney Parks Blog information link.

  2. Meeting Anna and Elsa and the other princesses is one of the biggest things our girls want to do on our cruise in March. This was a great post and very helpful. Thank you!!!!

  3. Thank you for the tips! I've never done a Disney cruise, though I hope to one day. I always thought the meet-and-greets worked like they did in the parks. There's actually a lot of comfort in knowing there's a way to meet my son's future wife (Elsa) without the two hour wait. :)

    1. The Mickey and Minnie meet and greets are the same kind of queues you see in the parks (albeit, shorter) but the princess gatherings, the Frozen meet and the Disney Junior meets all are ticketed.
